There is Freedom in Education

Education is a fundamental human right for all, not just the privileged few.  Globally, twice as many girls as boys will never start school.  However, each year of education delivers an additional 20% increase in wages for girls (compared with 10% for boys).  Getting girls through secondary school could reap billions of dollars a year for poorer countries.

Unfortunately, it is a statistical fact that women frequently make less money, are married younger, are more likely to contract HIV, and experience more domestic violence than men. (UNFPA report 2016 / APHRC report 2014.)  Education promotes equality and lifts people out of poverty.  It teaches children how to become good citizens.

Countries with higher levels of gender equality have higher economic growth.  Companies with more women on their boards have higher returns.  Peace agreements that include women are more successful.  Parliaments with more women take up a wider range of issues – including health, education, anti-discrimination, and child support.

Fountain of Life Africa has built several schools in Chibombo District, providing thousands of children with access to an elementary education, over half of these for the very time.  We continue to partner with the most needy communities, identifying where new school buildings will capture a larger percentage of the local catchment with access to school.
